You're swinging in a hammock, admiring the placid Moho River, sampling the Mayan chocolate bar you made earlier in the day and contemplating a soak in the Jacuzzi tub. Surrounded by nothing but rainforest and the people you like to share this experience with. Don’t think about work or the daily life, just enjoy the moment. Off the grid? This is off the hook.
Cotton Tree Lodge is a Eco friendly residence in the rainforests of Middle America. Built from wood what was left over after hurricanes and storms. Owners Chris Crowell and Jeff Pzena opened this Belize resort in early 2007, hoping to develop "a magical place - where visitors could get in touch with the land, the people, and themselves".
Their focus is on sustainability, but without limiting the comfort of the guests. The Cotton Tree Lodge started the ‘Cotton Tree Community’, which supports the local habitants in their development by giving donations for sport equipment and school supplies.
The organization of the lodge has separated the activities in two categories: Belize Tours (daily) and Special Trips. Belize Tours brings you to the Maya villages and lets you explore the Toledo District on one of their cultural, chocolate, adventure or wildlife tours. For those who are looking for something extra, the Special Trips is the best option with excursions to Guatemala and the Caribbean Sea.
Don't forget to bring mosquito spray, during the night it might happen that are a lot of insect who will enter your house. The activites are organized based on the weather forecast, just let you surprise each day has to offer. Prepare for warm nights.
