Because the Ultima Thule Lodge is one of the last places on earth that is beyond the reaches of cell coverage and phone lines, it’s not possible to communicate with your cell phone. But that’s just what you need, or what you don’t need, in this part of the world. There’s no reason to pay attention to the modern technology, just enjoy everything Alaska has to offer.
The fact that the lodge is only accessible by plane says enough. This lodge is located in one most remote places of the world where the closest road is at 100 miles from the camp. Fortunate that the Claus family, the owners and founders, is a real ‘flying family’; especially Paul Claus is an excellent pilot. Imagine how it feels like to wake immersed in nature’s exuberance. Your luxurious cabin is nestled on a hillside alive with flowers and the Alaskan lodge's abundant vegetable garden. Including a wood-fired sauna, where you can revive from all the unique experiences that day.
The weather is changing almost every day, so the Claus family and the guides decide each morning what the activity that day will be. Also depending on the mood of the guests of course. Small selection of possible activities: air safari, glacier exploring and hiking, bear viewing and river rafting.
The lodge is only accessible by plane.
